# Best SBA Lending Software for Credit Unions

> Ten vendors ranked for a credit union running SBA 7(a) inside a member business lending program, weighted toward a small credit staff, published credit union customers and the option to outsource the SBA back office.

**Maintained by:** the SBA Lending Software editorial team · **First issued:** September 3, 2026 · **Sources checked:** October 1, 2026 · **Due for review:** December 3, 2026

## The finding

Aloan, SPARK and Abrigo lead for credit unions. Aloan does the analysis for a small MBL staff, spreading related entities, tracing K-1s and assembling the memo beside the existing system, without E-Tran; it names Alliance Catholic Credit Union as a customer, not as an SBA reference. SPARK is the SBA-native origination system with E-Tran, forms and SOP checklists built in. Abrigo is the platform with the largest published credit union footprint, more than 400 credit union customers, with SBA 7(a) forms and E-Tran inside its credit suite. Baker Hill, Biz2X and nCino follow, and Lenders Cooperative is the option for a credit union that wants software and an SBA back office from one vendor.

Credit unions come to SBA lending from member business lending, usually with a credit staff measured in single digits and a commercial book that is a small share of assets. The guaranty is attractive for the same reasons it is at a bank, and the constraints are sharper: fewer analysts, an NCUA examination that reads the commercial file closely, and often a CUSO or Lender Service Provider already involved. This page reorders the flagship list for that reader, weighting the analysis, published credit union customers and the availability of an outsourced back office more heavily than a bank page would. Out of scope: consumer lending platforms, SBA's own systems, and CUSOs as a category, though the primers name where they fit.

## What was checked

- **SBA program coverage**: Which programs the vendor names on its own SBA page: 7(a), Express, 504, CAPLines, Community Advantage. A page that says SBA loans generally is not the same as one that says 504, and a 504 lender has a much shorter list than the phrase SBA lending software suggests.
- **E-Tran and SBA forms**: Whether the product submits the guaranty request to E-Tran itself and stores the SBA loan number that comes back, and whether it generates Forms 1919 and 1920 from data already in the file rather than handing the lender a blank PDF.
- **Eligibility and SOP handling**: Whether the product runs the size standard, credit elsewhere, use of proceeds and franchise checks as steps in the file, and how the vendor says it keeps pace with SOP 50 10 revisions. Two editions have issued since 2025, each reissued with technical updates before it took effect: SOP 50 10 8 for loans numbered on or after June 1, 2025, and SOP 50 10 8.1 for applications SBA receives on or after October 1, 2026.
- **Underwriting depth**: Whether the product spreads the returns, traces affiliates and K-1s, builds a global cash flow with guarantors, and assembles a credit memo, or whether it moves documents and leaves the analysis to a spreadsheet. Judged from what the vendor documents, not what the category implies.
- **Servicing and 1502 reporting**: Whether the vendor publishes monthly 1502 preparation in the FTA's format, secondary market sale handling and servicing actions, or whether the loan leaves the product at closing. Several widely recommended platforms describe no servicing at all, and the profiles say so.
- **Verified named lenders**: Banks and credit unions named on the vendor's own pages or in a named publication, with the institution's size where it is published. Anonymous testimonials and first-name quotes from a large regional bank do not count, and neither do demo screens styled as portfolio results.

The order starts from how consistently five AI assistants recommend each vendor when asked about SBA lending software for credit unions, then adjusts against the six criteria with a credit union's weighting. Three assistants ranked Aloan first for credit unions and all five named Abrigo, which is why those two sit high. One assistant recommended CUSOs, CU Business Group, MBFS and AVANA, which run these systems as a service; they are not vendors and are noted in the primers. A single assistant's #4, Wolters Kluwer's TSoftPlus, is below the corroboration bar and on the watch list.

_Positions are our editorial read against the six criteria above, applied to what each vendor documents in public. They are not a market-share ordering and not a statement about what any product does in production. A vendor moves when its published evidence changes, and several here would move on the day they published a program list, a named lender or a 1502 capability._

## Vendor by vendor

### 1. Aloan: Best for a small MBL credit staff

**Choose it when:** Credit unions whose SBA delay is analyst capacity, not the LOS · **Category:** AI-native commercial LOS, run alongside the SBA system of record

**Distinct capability:** Affiliate and guarantor analysis into a memo where each figure traces to its source, beside the system the credit union already has.

An AI-native commercial LOS that, beside the credit union's existing SBA system, classifies the borrower package, spreads related entities with K-1 tracing, maps guarantors and assembles a source-traceable memo for 7(a), 504 and Express files; no E-Tran, and Alliance Catholic Credit Union named as a customer, not as an SBA reference.

Three of five assistants rank it first for credit unions, and the published scope matches the credit union's constraint: a credit staff of two or three that loses days to affiliate analysis and memo writing on each SBA file, with an origination system that is fine as it is. It names 504 and states that the lender keeps eligibility and the decision, which is the right posture for an NCUA examination. It is a commercial LOS but not an SBA submission system: no E-Tran, no forms, no servicing. aloan.ai names Alliance Catholic Credit Union, Buckeye State Bank and West Central Bank as customers, none as an SBA reference, and part of its AI visibility is its own published guides. A pilot on the credit union's own multi-entity files, with acceptance criteria written first, is the only honest diligence.

**Where it holds up**

- Underwriting depth published in detail; 504 named
- Keeps the existing system
- Lender keeps eligibility and the decision

**Where it falls short**

- No E-Tran, forms or servicing
- Named customers, none an SBA reference
- Own guides feed its AI visibility

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Deployment | Cloud, As the commercial LOS, or alongside an existing one |
| Pricing | Custom quote; usage-based, a monthly minimum plus a per-document overage, sized to document volume (published basis, no figures) |
| Sweet spot | Community banks, credit unions, CDFIs and non-bank commercial lenders; aloan.ai names Buckeye State Bank, Alliance Catholic Credit Union and West Central Bank as customers, none presented as an SBA reference |

### 2. SPARK: Best SBA-native origination for a credit union

**Choose it when:** Credit unions that want SBA in its own system with the rules preconfigured · **Category:** SBA-specialist origination

**Distinct capability:** SOP rules and closing checklists as defaults, with a four-week onboarding capability.

A cloud origination system built around the SBA file, with E-Tran, SBA forms and SOP checklists inside the platform, sold to credit unions, CDFIs and LSPs, with named bank lenders and a four-week onboarding capability on record.

Four assistants name it for credit unions, and the case is the same as elsewhere: the SBA's rules arrive configured, which matters most to an institution without an SBA operations team to configure them. The four-week onboarding figure and the Public Benefit Corporation that operates it both speak to a credit union buyer. It publishes no credit union customer by name, names no program on its SBA page, and says it has no built-in servicing.

**Where it holds up**

- E-Tran, forms and SOP checklists built in
- Four named lenders, four-week onboarding
- A Public Benefit Corporation, owned by Arcadea Group since 2023

**Where it falls short**

- No credit union named
- No program named on the SBA page
- No built-in servicing; 1502 not mentioned

| Fact | Value |

| Sweet spot | Banks, credit unions, CDFIs and Lender Service Providers doing SBA and small business lending; named clients include The Bancorp, Bank of Idaho, American Bank & Trust and NDC's Grow America Fund |

### 3. Abrigo: Largest published credit union footprint

**Choose it when:** Credit unions already on Abrigo for spreading or risk · **Category:** Commercial LOS with SBA module

**Distinct capability:** More than 400 credit union customers, with SBA forms and E-Tran inside the suite they already use.

SBA 7(a) as a module of the Sageworks credit suite, with E-Tran through Abrigo's API network and Forms 1919 and 1920 as PDFs, backed by more than 400 credit union customers and two named banks on the SBA page.

All five assistants name Abrigo for credit unions and two rank it first. More than 400 credit union customers is a published figure nobody else here matches, and a credit union already spreading in Sageworks gets SBA forms and E-Tran without a second system. It gives ground on scope, since only 7(a) is named and no servicing or 1502 is published, and the module is not documented as a standalone purchase, so it is a better answer for an existing Abrigo credit union than for one starting fresh.

**Where it holds up**

- 400+ credit union customers published
- E-Tran and Forms 1919 and 1920 in the suite
- Two named banks and a loan count

**Where it falls short**

- Only 7(a) named
- No servicing or 1502
- Not a standalone module

| Sweet spot | Community banks and credit unions; more than 400 credit union customers; SBA page names Signature Bank of Georgia and Western States Bank |

### 4. Baker Hill: Best conversion path for member business loans

**Choose it when:** Credit unions where SBA loans start as member business requests · **Category:** Commercial LOS with SBA module

**Distinct capability:** A member business loan becomes an SBA loan with forms populated and the loan number written back.

NextGen converts an underwritten business loan to an SBA loan with a click, names 7(a) with PLP, Express and CapLine, generates Forms 1919 and 1920 and stores the E-Tran loan number.

Three assistants name it for credit unions and one ranks it second. Baker Hill sells to credit unions explicitly, and the conversion from a member business loan to an SBA loan inside one workflow is a good fit for an MBL program where SBA is occasional. The precise program list and the E-Tran round trip are published. It does not name 504, describes no servicing, and names no credit union SBA customer.

**Where it holds up**

- 7(a), PLP, Express and CapLine named
- E-Tran round trip documented
- Spreads and memo in the same platform

**Where it falls short**

- 504 not named
- No servicing or 1502
- No named credit union SBA customer

### 5. Biz2X: Best digital front end with 504 named

**Choose it when:** Credit unions building digital, small-dollar SBA volume · **Category:** SBA-specialist origination

**Distinct capability:** Eligibility verified automatically before the file exists, across five named programs.

Biz2X names 7(a), 504, Express, Microloans and CAPLines, verifies eligibility at intake, reports to E-Tran and runs borrower portals; BayFirst, First Savings Bank and Newity are the SBA lenders named in its case studies, and BayFirst exited SBA 7(a) lending in 2025.

Three assistants name it for credit unions, and for one whose plan is small-dollar Express volume through a digital application, the automatic eligibility check and the full program list are the argument. Servicing and 1502 are not described, the parent is a direct lender, and no credit union is named.

**Where it holds up**

- Five programs named including 504
- Eligibility at intake
- SBA lenders named in case studies

**Where it falls short**

- No servicing or 1502
- Parent is a direct lender
- No credit union named

| Fact | Value |

### 6. nCino: Best for larger credit unions on one platform

**Choose it when:** Large credit unions already on or choosing nCino · **Category:** Commercial LOS with SBA module

**Distinct capability:** One platform for all commercial origination with E-Tran submission inside it.

SBA 7(a) and Express inside nCino's Salesforce-based platform, with E-Tran submission from within the system and Form 1919 via DocuSign; WaFd Bank, PeoplesBank and Coastal States Bank named.

All five assistants name nCino for credit unions and two rank it second, and for a large credit union standardizing commercial lending on one platform it is the usual answer. For most credit unions the Salesforce foundation is a fit question, and the SBA page names no 504, no Form 1920, no eligibility engine and no servicing. No credit union is named on the SBA page.

**Where it holds up**

- In-platform E-Tran
- Four named lenders
- Public company

**Where it falls short**

- Built on Salesforce, a fit question for a credit union not already on it
- 504 and Form 1920 not named
- No servicing or 1502

| Fact | Value |

[Full nCino profile](https://sbalendingsoftware.com/platforms/ncino)

### 7. Lenders Cooperative: Best for software plus an SBA back office

**Choose it when:** Credit unions that may outsource underwriting or servicing at first · **Category:** SBA-specialist origination and servicing

**Distinct capability:** A named credit union customer and an SBA LSP service from the same vendor.

The merged Lenders Cooperative and Ventures, with the 504 platform behind 99.8% of 504 loans, direct E-Tran access, 1502 through its Payments product, SECU MD as a named credit union, and SBA LSP services from the same company.

One assistant ranked it second for credit unions, and it is the one vendor here with a named credit union customer, SECU MD, and an SBA back office for hire. A credit union that wants to start with outsourced underwriting and bring it in-house later has a path. It sits here because the two platforms are still being unified and the 7(a) footprint outside CDCs is thinly documented.

**Where it holds up**

- SECU MD named
- 504, 7(a), Community Advantage and 1502 published
- LSP services available

**Where it falls short**

- Platforms still being unified
- 7(a) footprint thin
- No headquarters or founding year

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Deployment | Cloud |
| Pricing | Quote only |
| Sweet spot | Banks, credit unions, CDCs, CDFIs and fintech lenders; the merged company was to support over 500 institutions; SECU MD named in 2025 |

[Full Lenders Cooperative profile](https://sbalendingsoftware.com/platforms/lenders-cooperative)

### 8. Jack Henry: The Symitar shop's first question

**Choose it when:** Jack Henry core credit unions with occasional SBA volume · **Category:** Bank-core commercial LOS

**Distinct capability:** The core provider's own commercial platform, with a $6 billion credit union case study.

Jack Henry's commercial lending platform names SBA among its loan types and cites a $6 billion credit union case study for commercial lending; nothing published describes E-Tran, forms or 1502.

Two assistants name it for credit unions, and a large share of credit unions run a Jack Henry core, so the question is inevitable. Its one named case study is a credit union. On every SBA-specific criterion the published record is a single word, so the account team and a demonstration on a real file are the only way to answer.

**Where it holds up**

- Single-vendor relationship
- Credit union case study
- Durable public company

**Where it falls short**

- No E-Tran, forms or 1502 published
- No SBA customer
- Underwriting undocumented

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Deployment | Cloud |
| Pricing | Quote only |
| Sweet spot | Community and regional banks and credit unions; Michigan State University Federal Credit Union ($6B) named in a commercial lending case study |

### 9. PCFS Solutions: The servicing specialist, sold to CUSOs too

**Choose it when:** Credit unions servicing their own portfolio or working through a CUSO · **Category:** SBA-specialist origination and servicing

**Distinct capability:** 1502 in FTA format, sold to CUSOs as well as credit unions.

PCFS Solutions' Loan Manager automates 1502 preparation in FTA format and handles sold-loan prepayments; it sells to credit unions and CUSOs.

Two assistants name it for credit unions. It is the vendor a credit union meets when it services its own SBA portfolio or works with a CUSO that runs PCFS on its behalf. Its origination side is thinly documented and its site names no customer, which keeps it low on an origination-weighted page.

**Where it holds up**

- Deepest published 1502 handling
- Sold to CUSOs
- Special assets covered

**Where it falls short**

- Origination thinly documented
- No customer on its own site
- Program list stops at 7(a)

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Deployment | Cloud |
| Pricing | Quote only |
| Sweet spot | Banks, credit unions, CUSOs and Lender Service Providers; Meadows Bank and American Business Lending named by CCG Catalyst |

**Paired against:** [PCFS Solutions vs Lenders Cooperative](https://sbalendingsoftware.com/compare/pcfs-solutions-vs-lenders-cooperative-servicing)

[Full PCFS Solutions profile](https://sbalendingsoftware.com/platforms/pcfs-solutions)

### 10. Cync Software: The complete checklist

**Choose it when:** Credit unions that will verify each named function in a demo · **Category:** Commercial LOS with SBA module

**Distinct capability:** Four eligibility tests named as steps in the file.

Cync names 7(a) and 504, three forms, four eligibility tests, E-Tran automation and 1502 automation on one page, inside a configurable commercial platform.

One assistant named it for credit unions. The function list is the most complete published here, including 504 and 1502. It has no named SBA customer, its page carries demo-styled figures, and its JavaScript-rendered site keeps it out of most AI answers.

**Where it holds up**

- 7(a) and 504 named
- Three forms and 1502
- Spreading in the same platform

**Where it falls short**

- No SBA customer named
- Demo-styled figures
- Thin AI presence

| Fact | Value |
| --- | --- |
| Deployment | Cloud |
| Pricing | Quote only |
| Sweet spot | Enterprise and community banks, credit unions, fintech and specialty lenders; no SBA customer named |

## Credit union questions to ask first

### Analysis or system of record

A credit union with two analysts and a working LOS has an analysis problem; one keying 7(a) data into three places has a system problem. Aloan answers the first; the second needs a system that submits to E-Tran, which Aloan does not, and the origination vendors answer it.

### Who else in the movement

Abrigo publishes more than 400 credit union customers and Lenders Cooperative names SECU MD; Aloan names Alliance Catholic Credit Union as a customer, though not as an SBA reference. Ask every other vendor for a credit union reference by name.

### CUSO or your own license

A CUSO may already run PCFS or Abrigo on your behalf. Decide whether you are buying software or buying a service that happens to run software, and read the primer on what SBA lending software does before deciding.

### Examiner readiness

Ask how the file, the eligibility checks and the memo look to an NCUA examiner, and whether every figure in the memo traces to a document. Vendors that publish traceability make a stronger examination story.

### After closing

PCFS, Lenders Cooperative, Cync and DownHome publish 1502 reporting; the others do not. If you will service your own 7(a) loans, settle where they live after closing before you sign.

## One purchase, several names

_SBA lending software for credit unions, credit union SBA loan software, MBL SBA software, CUSO SBA platform_

Credit union buyers phrase this around member business lending as often as around SBA. The vendors are the same; the difference is that a credit union may be evaluating a CUSO's service alongside its own software purchase, and this page says which vendors sell to CUSOs as well as to credit unions.

## Questions lenders ask

### What is the best SBA lending software for a credit union?

Aloan for a small credit staff whose delay is the analysis, SPARK for an SBA-native origination system, Abrigo for a credit union already in its suite or that wants the largest published credit union footprint, Baker Hill for member business loans that become SBA loans, and Lenders Cooperative if an outsourced back office is part of the plan.

### Can a credit union do SBA lending without buying software?

Yes, through a CUSO or a Lender Service Provider that runs the software and the process on the credit union's behalf. One AI assistant recommends CU Business Group, MBFS and AVANA CUSO for exactly that; they are services and are not ranked here.

### Which vendors name a credit union customer?

Abrigo publishes more than 400 credit union customers as a count. Lenders Cooperative names SECU MD. Aloan names Alliance Catholic Credit Union as a customer, not as an SBA reference. Jack Henry cites a $6 billion credit union case study for commercial lending, not SBA. No other vendor here names a credit union.

### Does Aloan submit to E-Tran?

No. It prepares the file beside the credit union's SBA system of record, and the lender submits through that system. aloan.ai names Alliance Catholic Credit Union among its customers, not as an SBA reference.

### Why does the order differ from the flagship page?

Because the assistants answer the credit union question differently, with Aloan and Abrigo named first more often, and because this page weights a small credit staff, published credit union customers and an outsourcing option more heavily.
